Bhatkal: Fish Mongers Demand Permission to Sell Fish

Bhatkal, Feb 28: The fish mongers, here, submitted a memorandum to president of the Bhatkal Town Municipal Council Inayatullah Shabandri  demanding that they be allowed to sell fish at the place where shandy was being held in the town.

Fish selling had been banned three months ago. But these women had been selling fish there for the past eight years. Most of their families depend on selling fish for their family income. They appealed that they be permitted to continue their business at the place where shandy was being held in the town every sunday.

Jayanti Minchi, vice-president of the Bhatkal TMC, fishermen's leaders Rama Moger,  F K Moger and DH Shabdar among others were present.
