Udupi, Feb 24: Milagres English High School students here brought laurels to the school by winning third place for the state in Shuttle Badminton Tournament (PAIKA) which was held in Chennai recently. A felicitation ceremony was held at Milagres English School Hall which was presided by Fr Stany B Lobo, correspondant of Milagres Institutions.
Prior to the felicitations, a short welcome function was arranged at the junction of the Santhekatte here. Harshitha Shetty, daughter of Bhasker Shetty of Parampally, Manipal and Adlin Lewis daughter of Allen Lewis of Kallianpur who won third place in Shuttle Badminton and Liz Odela D'Souza, daughter of William D'Souza of Kallianpur who won first place in Karate at state level, were were welcomed by heads of Milagres Institutions, officials of Rotary Club Kallianpur, PTA members and large number people garlanded them at Santhekatte and thereafter a procession was held from Santhekatte to Milagres Englsih school campus along with the school band.
During the feliciation ceremony along with Fr Stany B Lobo, Fr Ivan Rodrigues, principal of Milagres PU College, Dr Nery Cornelio, principal of Milagres College, Janardhan Thonse, Zilla Panchyat member, Appu Tailor Vice President of Kallanpur Panchayat, Fr Anil Prakash D'Silva, headmaster of Milagres English School, Ravi Acharya, past president of Rotary Kallianpur and PTA officals were present on the dais.
During the occasion Janardhan Thonse said that Kallianpur of Thonse village has brought up its name at the national level which is a great achievement. Fr Stany B Lobo also spoke on the occasion.
Meanwhile participants of other national level evens were also recognised during the occasion. Prajwal Baidoor participated in high jump, Dhanush Kumar in discuss throw, Viveka Adiga who won fourth place in basket ball for Karnataka team, Venutha Palan in 100 mts race and Clive Marsh D'Souza in table tennis.
Fr Anil Prakash D'Silva, headmaster of Milagres English School welcomed the gathering and Clive Marsh D'Souza another State level winner and National level participant proposed the vote of thanks. Chaya Shetty compered the felicitation programme.
