Kasargod, Feb 21: Locals on Tuesday February 21 nabbed Madan, who was accused of murdering 24year-old Jisha, wife of Rajendran, at Madikai near here. He was later handed over to Nileshwar police.
26-year-old Madan Malik, a native of Jadapur village of Kendrapara district in Odisha, was found hiding near the overhead tank on the terrace of Jisha's house. It was earlier suspected that he had run away after committing the murder.
Madan had allegedly killed Jisha on Saturday February 18 night, mistaking her to be Shree Lekha, her relative, who was reportedly keeping watch on him and openly questioning his conduct.
On Tuesday, the residents of the house heard sounds emanating from the terrace, and went to inquire. To their surprise, they found Madan hiding near the tank. As soon the news spread, locals gathered in large numbers and nabbed him. Nileshwar police were called and Madan was handed over. A crowd also gathered at the police station.
The police recovered the knife that was used in the heinous crime. Malik’s belongings were found scattered near the house.
Further information will be revealed after investigations, said Nileshwar sub-inspector Sunil Kumar.
