Udupi, Feb 16: Manipal Institute of Management, Manipal organized a 'Management Conclave 2012', on Wednesday February 15. The chief guest of the function was Prasad Raj Kanchan, president, Udupi Chamber Of commerce and industry, guest of honour was Muki Raghunathan, founder and CEO, PepperSquare, Bangalore and Renu Jayaram, founder, president, POWER, Udupi.
The conference started with a tribute and homage to Late Dr V S Acharya, minister – higher education, government of Karnataka. Prof P Ramakrishna Chadaga, the director of MIM welcomed the dignitaries, followed by address made by Muki Raghunathan, Renu Jayaram and Prasad Raj Kanchan. Five key sessions were the part of the conclave.
The first key session was delivered by the Prof T R Shastri, dean, ICICI Manipal Academy Bangalore. He spoke on the topic ‘International Banking - Issues and challenges’. He also spoke about the challenges which the International Banking Sector is facing in the present era of globalization. He discussed about it’s impact on Indian Economy. Later he talked about the career prospects for Management students in Banking sector.
The second key session was taken by N V Durshan, Assistant General Manager and Principal, Syndicate Institute of bank Management Manipal. He addressed on the topic, ‘Risk Management as a cutting edge tool for Indian banking iIndustry’. The main idea of the session was to give the students an overview as to how the students can use the risk factors to gain maximum profit through their management skills.
The third session was taken by Arun Prabhu, CEO, Intouch Analytics, Bangalore. He discussed the topic “Acquiring and Retaining Corporate Clients. The session covered the challenges and issues faced by an entrepreneur in retaining corporate clients and the ways to overcome those challenges.
The fourth session was addressed by Muki Raghunathan, CEO - Peppersquare who talked about ‘Lessons from Failure – Experience Sharing’. The discussion was based on the idea to give the students an insight as to how they can take failures as a stepping stone for success.
The fifth session was taken over by Prof P Ramakrishna Chadaga who spoke on the importance and relevance of team building and need to work in team was emphasized. He also explained how an individual can work in a team and deliver better result.
