Mangalore: Theft at Home - Double Whammy for JD(S) Leader

Mangalore, Feb 16: Munir, a JD(S) leader residing on Dargah Road in Karnad near Mulky, had lost Rs 75,000 in cash, while participating in JD(S) convention held on Monday February 13 at Moodbidri. His house was burgled on Tuesday, and thieves took away valuables and cash amounting to over eight lac rupees, it is gathered.

Munir has away from home with family members since Sunday because of his other engagements. His son, who attends school, was alone at home, it is learnt. When the boy came home from school in the evening, he found that thieves had targetted his home.

It is learnt that gold ornaments including two Karimanis, necklace, bangles, earlobes, etc, totally worth about six lac rupees, and cash amounting to Rs 1,50,000, apart from two ATM cards have been taken away by the burglars.

In the backdrop of the fact that Munir was targeted twice within a matter of two days, the policemen believe that some known persons are behind both these acts. A case was registered in Mulky police station, and investigation has begun.
