Udupi: Vishwakarma Community Converges for Grand Sammelana

Udupi, Feb 5: The district-level Vishwakarma Sammelana, organized by Vishwakarma Okkoota to mark their silver jubilee, was inaugurated by chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda here on Sunday February 5.
Sadananda Gowda in his inaugural address said that Vishwakarma community has grown in leaps and bounds owing to the active participation of the community brethren. "The diversity and unity among people of different faiths, castes and creeds can only be found in our country. Its culture has survived since centuries despite the onslaught of rulers and present-day globalisation," he said.
DVS called upon on the community to cast aside its inferiority complex that has hindered its prosperity. He also assured that the state government will grant certain benefits for the welfare and development of the Vishwakarma community.
'Rajatodbhava CM', a silver plaque with the image of Sadananda Gowda's face etched on it, was presented to the CM on the occasion.
Swami Kalahastendra Saraswati of Anegundi Mutt, Katpady and Swami Gurushiva Sujnanamurti of Aremadanahalli Mutt, Hassan graced the occasion.
Dakshina Kannada district incharge minister Krishna J Palemar, state minister of labour and silk B N Bacche Gowda, BJP state president K S Eshwarappa, Congress state president Dr G Parameshwar, Shimoga MP B Y Raghavendra, MLA Raghupati Bhat, town councilor Kiran Kumar, entrepreneur Pramod Madhwaraj, Dakshina Kannada Vishwa Brahmana Sabha, Bangalore president Vittal Belandoor, Karnataka Vishwakarma Association, Mumbai president Nitte Damodar Acharya, Dakshina Kannada Vishwakarma Sabha, Coimbattore honorary president P L Shubhakar Acharya, Vishwakarma Okkota president Alevoor Yogish Acharya and others were present.
The veterans of the community presented a memorandum to Sadananda Gowda, seeking state benefits during the programme.
Vishwakarma Okkoota vice-president Sitaram Acharya welcomed the gathering. Padubidri Dinesh Acharya proposed vote of thanks. Ramesh Acharya and Suresh Acharya compered the programme.
