Udupi, Feb 2: Kediyoor Hotel here has carved out a niche for itself in the coastal belt of Karnataka because of its unique features and excellent service. The management of this hotel has envisaged various religious and cultural programmes to celebrate 25 years of the hotel’s existence, including re-consecration of the serpent god’s idol, Brahmakalasbhisheka, and Ashtapavitra Nagamandalotsava. This was informed at a press conference held here on Wednesday February 1.
The shrine of serpent god, located to the north east of the hotel, has been renovated. The entire shrine has been built of stones with 14 pillars and equipped with intricately and artistically carved wood work. Bells which hang from the roof, sanctum sanctorum covered by copper tiles, and the majestic holy fig tree which exists there since generations, have been maintained without in any way affecting traditions and faith.
The statue of Lord Sheshashashayana erected opposite that of Lord Vasuki enhances the devotional ambience of the shrine. Lord Vishnu, who is at peace with himself, is depicted as resting over Lord Shesha, serpent god, fortified with Brahmashakti and Shivashakti. This statue, which replicates the presiding deity of Lord Anantapadmanabha Temple of Thiruvananthapuram, is slated to be inaugurated by Martanda Varma, scion of Travancore royal family.
The Tulabhara of Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejavar Mutt will also be held as a gesture of gratitude for showering his blessings on this hotel. The Tulabhara is being held on February 7 to the Swamiji, who was the power behind the setting up of the hotel, and who inaugurated it 25 years ago.
A ‘Hore Kanike’ procession will begin at 3 pm on February 6 at Jodukatte, and move towards Nagamandalotsava being held at Kediyoor Hotel. Inaugural of Ashtapavitra Nagamandalotsava and silver jubilee programmes of the hotel will be held the same evening. Heads of various Mutts, religious leaders, ministers, people’s representatives, entrepreneurs, industrialists etc will participate. On that night, a Yakshagana performance by Kondadakuli Sri Poornachandra Yakshagana troupe will be held.
On the occasion of Brahmakalashotsava, Pejavar Swamiji will tie worshipped ‘Nagaraksha Daara (blessed thread)’ to the wrist of Dr T Ramdas M Pai, chancellor of Manipal University, as a token of appreciation for his full-fledged support extended to the hotel during its inception and initial years. On the same day, this blessed thread will also be made available to all the participants.
On February 7, in addition to the Tulabhara of Pejavar Swamiji, felicitation of dignitaries with stellar achievements to their credit, will be followed by the staging of Tulu comedy, ‘Ajjer’ directed by Vijaykumar Kodialbail of ‘Oriyardori Asal’ fame.
On the last day of the silver jubilee celebrations of the hotel, spiritual heads of different Mutts will deliver benedictory addresses. On that day, all the employees of the hotel will be blessed by way of handing over ‘Mantrakshate’. On that afternoon, community feast for the general public will be organized. The famous Tirupati Mushti Ladu and milk Payasam will be the special delicacies to be served on that day. On that night, Ashtapavitra Nagamandalotsava will be performed.
