Mangalore: Fisherman Survives Whole Night by Clinging on to Net!

Mangalore, Feb 2: A fisherman, who had accidentally fallen into the sea during deep sea fishing, miraculously survived by clinging on to a fishing net the whole night.

The lucky survivor, Gopal, works for a mechanized fishing boat, ‘Jala Mayura’. He is a resident of Boloor-Bokkapatna in the city. He accidentally slipped and fell into the sea about 30 nautical miles away from seashore during fishing. This fact came to the notice of others in the boat after some time.

Although the fishermen of the boat continued to search for their missing fellow seaman, they failed to locate the whereabouts of Gopal. 

It is learnt that Gopal, who continued to swim for some time, saw light at a corner of a fishing net spread by another boat. He went that way and held on to the net the whole night. When the net was pulled back by the fishermen of that boat, he reached their boat. He was later brought to the shore.
