Udupi, Apr 15: A shocking incident has come to light near Malpe Junction, where the body of a newborn baby was discovered within the premises of a mosque. Suhail (27), the manager of the Jamia Mosque near Malpe Junction, reported the matter to the authorities.

According to the complaint, a two-storey building associated with mosque activities stands nearby, and a toilet facility was recently constructed adjacent to it for use by the labourers working there.

On April 14, at around 1:10 PM, Suhail entered the toilet and was shocked to find the body of a newborn baby lying inside. Bloodstains were also visible on the wall of the toilet. Preliminary observations suggest that the newborn may have died either before, during, or shortly after birth.

It is suspected that an unknown person secretly disposed of the baby’s body in the toilet in an attempt to conceal the birth.

A case has been registered at Malpe police station. The police are conducting further investigations to identify the culprits and determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
