In first phase let the authority start the work between Mangaluru & Surthkal, Mangaluru - Deralakatte/Ullal, Mangaluru - B.C.Road, where the traffic density is heavy. Keeping 5 years future , if the work starts by end of this year citizens of Mangaluru gets the benifits like trafic congestion inside/outskirts will be controlled easily. The only city from Karnataka having Port,Air,Train,Road facility should get Metro at the earliest. See the feasibility to connect all the places mentioned above from main city & then can be extended upto Udupi/Manipal in due course. Implimentation of Metro can be benefited mainly Medical sector, IT sector, Educational Institutions etc.etc. I strongly propose to get Metro project as early as possible.

Why is the authorities blind folded, we need connectivity from Kundapura to Mangalore, giving infrastructure boost to Kundapura as well. My sincere request to Kota Srinivas Poojary to take up further with required authorities to get the required sanction. Regards, Prakash Chandan

The project would be successful if they do it like Singapore, Mumbai underground. So they don't have to get land bought, restrict areas. It just needs planning which has to run for years.

Idea of metro rail is short distance travel in high land traffic cities. Nobody prefers to stand for 1 to 1.5 hour to reach Udupi. In Bengaluru, metro benefited because movement of public is high in dense areas. In Mangalore to Udupi only peak traffic in morning & evening. Commuters feel uncomfortable if they daily made to stand and travel for 1 to 1.5hr. Post that they would prefer bus ride relaxing.. Metro rail project highly cost sensitive to build and operate.

Metro will not be benefit a large section of the public if it does not connect important installations like the airport, seaport, MRPL, industrial areas and interior towns like Bajpe, Kateel and Kinnigoli.

The estimated cost for the 64 km corridor is as follows: • Elevated Sections: Approximately ₹250 crore per kilometer • Underground Sections: Approximately ₹500 crore per kilometer Assuming a mix of elevated and underground sections, the total project cost is estimated to be around ₹16,000 crore. The metro line is planned to traverse key urban, semi-urban, and industrial zones, ensuring connectivity to existing transport hubs, including airports, railway stations, highways, and ports. While the exact station list is subject to the detailed project report, the corridor aims to cover: • Mangaluru: Central Business Districts, industrial areas, and the airport • Udupi: Residential and commercial zones • Manipal: Educational institutions and healthcare centers

Metro is a must for Udupi and Mangaluru. Maybe in 2nd phase can connect Kundapur as it is a good high density route. We need good Public transport system. Metro is clean, prompt and scalable. It is better if they implement soon as later city will get crowded. Another system is RRTS like Delhi Meerut Corridor. Public should support the initiative.

Too expensive to build Metro. Instead, add 2nd or 3rd line to the existing railway track, improve existing train stations, improve train stations connectivity roads, better parking facilities and introduce Vande Metro with services running say every hour. Increase the frequency based on the need. The cost of building Metro for 60 km would be around Rs. 20,000 crores. With that money, entire Konkan railway line from Mangaluru till Mumbai can be doubled besides having money to improve train stations.

First focus within mangalore city limits , suratkal to talapadi and name it as kudla metro or enkulena metro. No need to extend till udupi . From udupi to mangalore there will be several stops and may take more rime to travel and it will take longer time than existing private bus between udupi and mangalore

There should be local train from Mangalore to Byndoor on the existing railway line. A separate metro line will be too expensive.
