Mumbai, April 10: Commuters in Mumbai are advised to brace for major disruptions in train services as the Western Railway will undertake essential repair work over two consecutive nights — April 11–12 and April 12–13. The mega block is being implemented for the re-girdering of a crucial bridge between Mahim and Bandra stations.

According to Western Railway’s Chief Public Relations Officer Vineet Abhishek, train operations will be suspended from 11:00 pm on April 11 to 8:30 am on April 12, and again from 11:30 pm on April 12 to 9:00 am on April 13. The block will affect both suburban and long-distance services, with timings differing for fast and slow local lines.

Trains cancelled and rescheduled

A total of 334 local train services will be fully cancelled — 132 on April 11 and 202 on April 12. Additionally, 185 trains will face partial cancellations, with 68 affected on the first day and 117 on the second.

To mitigate commuter inconvenience, Western Railway will operate 110 additional services, including 42 on April 11 and 68 on April 12. Nine long-distance trains will be partially cancelled, and 11 others will be either regulated or rescheduled.

Stations affected

During the block, several local stations will be skipped by select trains, including:

  • Mahalaxmi
  • Lower Parel
  • Prabhadevi
  • Matunga Road
  • Mahim
  • Khar Road

Advisory for passengers

Commuters are urged to plan their journeys in advance, especially during the night and early morning hours of the block days. Passengers should check Western Railway’s official updates for specific train cancellations, changes in stops, and rescheduled services.

The Western Railway suburban network, which connects Churchgate in South Mumbai to Dahanu Road in Palghar district, serves over 30 lakh daily passengers, making this one of the most impactful maintenance blocks in recent times.
