Mangaluru, Apr 10: It is deeply unfortunate that young lives continue to be lost due to traffic violations such as rash driving, triple riding without helmets, and attempts to evade police checks. These dangerous behaviours have become alarmingly common among the youth in the city.
On April 9, a tragic accident claimed the lives of two youngsters. The incident occurred when they collided with an open divider while engaging in triple riding and rash driving, without wearing helmets.

Meanwhile, another traffic violation was reported near Kadri Kambla, connecting to Jail Road, where students were seen riding two bikes — triple riding on both — without helmets and in a negligent manner. This incident further highlights the growing disregard for basic road safety rules among the youth.
Many young riders wear helmets only to avoid fines, rather than understanding the critical importance of protecting their lives.
Violations such as riding without helmets and triple riding are frequently observed, especially near college campuses during the evening hours. This trend is not only alarming but also reflective of a larger issue — a lack of awareness and accountability.
It is imperative that educational institutions step in to address this issue. Schools and colleges must take proactive measures to educate students about road safety and enforce strict rules to prevent such violations.
Creating a culture of responsibility and awareness can go a long way in preventing further tragedies on roads.
