Lucknow, April 10: Unseasonal rain, accompanied by hail and lightning, battered several regions of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, leading to tragic loss of life and damage to crops. Officials confirmed the death of two people due to lightning strikes in Firozabad district.
According to Additional District Magistrate Vishu Raja, a 30-year-old pregnant woman, Lalita Devi, was fatally struck by lightning in Daulatpur village of the Narkhi area. In a separate incident, 32-year-old Padav Veer Singh lost his life in Chinari village of Jasrana.

In response, chief minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to provide immediate financial assistance to the families of the deceased. Emphasising urgency, he has instructed district authorities to visit the affected areas, assess the situation, and ensure swift relief to those impacted by the adverse weather conditions.
A detailed assessment of crop damage has also been ordered. CM Yogi stressed that timely submission of this report will enable the administration to initiate necessary support for affected farmers.
Meanwhile, the meteorological department has warned of continued heavy rain and lightning in parts of Kaushambi, Varanasi, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Lucknow, Barabanki, and Raebareli, urging residents to remain cautious.
