New Delhi, Apr 5: The third and final session of the District Congress Committee (DCC) Presidents' meeting concluded on Friday at Indira Bhavan with senior party leaders, including Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi, laying out a roadmap for organisational strengthening and grassroots mobilisation ahead of upcoming elections.

The high-level session, also attended by general secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal and other top leaders, focused on tightening booth-level management, verifying voter lists, and streamlining party operations for improved outreach.

In his opening address, Kharge underlined the pivotal role of DCC presidents in carrying the Congress message to the people and called for round-the-year election preparedness. “We must be ready not just for the next election but for every challenge that lies ahead,” he said. Stressing the importance of ideology, he added, “Congress must intensify its battle against the anti-Constitution and anti-people agenda of the BJP-RSS.”

Kharge criticised the Modi-led government for "prioritising communal polarisation over public welfare," and accused it of avoiding meaningful debates on crucial issues such as inflation, unemployment, and economic decline. He urged district leaders to remain vigilant in monitoring voter list processes to ensure free and fair elections.

KC Venugopal and Congress media head Pawan Khera addressed a press conference after the session, revealing that 862 DCC Presidents had taken part in the three-phase series of meetings. Senior leaders, state presidents, general secretaries, and party in-charges also actively contributed to the strategy discussions.

Venugopal shared that key theme included strengthening ideological training, media and social media coordination, resource optimisation, and enhancing booth-level connectivity. "We are building a sustained communication channel between the DCCs and central leadership," he said.

Looking ahead, he announced that the Congress will hold a major organisational session titled ‘Nyaypath: Sankalp, Samarpan, and Sangharsh’ in Ahmedabad on April 8-9, 2025. The event will coincide with the 100th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s election as Congress President and the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

On April 8, the Extended Congress Working Committee will convene at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Memorial, followed by the AICC session on April 9 with over 1,700 members, MPs, ministers, and senior leaders expected to attend.

Calling the recent DCC meet historic, Venugopal noted, “This is the first time in two decades that such extensive direct dialogue has taken place between grassroots leadership and the party high command. The feedback and enthusiasm from the DCCs have been extremely encouraging.”

The session marks a renewed push by the Congress to fortify its organisational base and prepare strategically for future electoral battles.
