Beltangady, Apr 3: The case of a three-month-old baby girl found abandoned in the forest near Belalu village in Beltangady is nearing a conclusion, as police have now traced the child’s parents.
According to reports, the parents have been identified as Ranjith Gowda (27) from Maya, Belalu village, who worked as a security guard in Dharmasthala, and Sushmitha from Kolangaje, Dharmasthala. It is also reported that police have taken Ranjith into custody.

Ranjith and Sushmitha were in a relationship, and Sushmitha had recently given birth. A few days after delivery, she handed over the baby to Ranjith. On March 22, Ranjith allegedly abandoned the infant in the forest and left.
Locals discovered the baby in the forested area of Belalu and immediately rescued and cared for her. Later, in the presence of Dharmasthala police, officials from the women and child welfare department took custody of the child and shifted her to a care center in Puttur.
