Mamata Banerjee accuses BJP, left of fueling communal tension in Bengal

Daijiworld Media Network - Kolkata

Kolkata, Mar 31: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, in her Eid message on Monday, lashed out at the BJP and the CPI(M)-led Left Front, accusing both opposition forces of propagating communal tensions in the state.

Addressing a gathering at Red Road, she coined the term "Ram-Bam" to describe the alliance of ideologically opposite forces. “They question my religious identity, but I am Hindu, Muslim, and Sikh at the same time. Above all, I am an Indian,” she said, accusing the opposition of dividing people.

Banerjee also warned of potential attempts to incite communal unrest during the upcoming Ram Navami celebrations on April 6. Without naming the BJP, she urged people to stay cautious of "vested interests" trying to create tension. “Do not fall into the trap of provocation. Your didi, Abhishek, and the entire state government stand with you,” she assured.

Slamming divisive politics, she urged people to reject those dictating what they should eat or wear. “Common people do not incite riots; political forces do,” she asserted.

The Chief Minister further emphasized her belief in the teachings of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and Swami Vivekananda but distanced herself from the ideology propagated by "one opposition party," calling it anti-Hindu.
