Patna, Mar 30: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday openly admitted that he had erred by exiting the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) twice, assuring that such a decision would not be repeated.

Speaking at a cooperative department event at Bapu Auditorium in the presence of union home minister Amit Shah, Nitish Kumar acknowledged his past political shifts and declared, "I made a mistake twice, but this will not happen again."

Highlighting the role of the cooperative sector in Bihar’s progress, he credited Amit Shah’s leadership as union cooperation minister for the state’s economic benefits. "Bihar has reaped significant benefits from various schemes introduced during Amit Shah’s tenure, and these initiatives have positively impacted people across the nation," he stated.

Taking aim at former chief ministers Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi, Kumar accused them of hindering Bihar’s progress before 2005. He claimed that under their administration, law and order had deteriorated to the extent that people feared stepping out after dusk, contrasting it with the improved security situation under his governance.

Nitish Kumar lauded the Jeevika scheme as one of his government’s most successful initiatives, asserting that its effectiveness led to the Congress-led UPA government adopting a similar model under the Ajeevika scheme nationwide. "Bihar’s approach to women’s empowerment through self-help groups has now gained national recognition," he remarked.

Union home minister Amit Shah, who served as the chief guest at the event, inaugurated several multi-crore development projects in the state. He also announced that the NDA would contest the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections under Nitish Kumar’s leadership, urging voters to re-elect the alliance with a strong mandate for continued progress and stability.

The event was attended by deputy chief ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, Water Resource minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, and several other NDA leaders.
