Panaji, Mar 30: Tense moments unfolded at the Goa police headquarters on Saturday after an anonymous email warned of an imminent IED attack targeting the office of the Director General of Police (DGP). Authorities have launched an investigation to trace the source of the email.
The threatening email, received at 9:09 am on the DGP’s official ID, claimed international drug cartels, in collusion with hostile state actors, were behind the alleged attack. Following the alert, Goa police's security unit and district teams were put on high alert, initiating immediate security checks as per standard procedures.

“The cybercrime unit is investigating the origin of the email, while security teams, including the anti-terrorist squad (ATS) and bomb disposal squad, are conducting thorough searches,” SP (Crime Branch) Rahul Gupta said.
The email warned of a sulfur-peroxide-based IED planted in the DGP office, with a detonation expected before 3 pm. It urged an immediate evacuation and called for shoot-on-sight orders if anything suspicious was spotted.
Security agencies conducted an extensive sweep of the premises, but no explosives were found. The incident comes days after a similar hoax threat was emailed to the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) in Porvorim, triggering a security alert.
Police are treating the threats seriously and are working to track down the sender of the emails.
