Kundapur, Mar 18: In honour of martyred soldier Anoop Poojary, local residents of Siddapur village near Airbailu had installed a tribute banner. Close to this banner is the Airbailu Government Lower Primary School, where a young student, Lahari, pays her respects every day before heading to school. This heartfelt gesture has gone viral on social media.

Lahari, a student of the government school, believes that honouring fallen soldiers and those protecting the nation is a duty for every citizen. “We live fearlessly every day because of the soldiers who guard our country,” she says. Villagers have lauded her sense of patriotism from such a young age.

“The tribute banner for martyr Anoop Poojary was installed near Airbailu School. Every day, while heading to school, Lahari salutes the image of Anoop Poojary on the banner as a mark of respect,” said her parents, Suresh Poojary.

Expressing admiration for her devotion, Siddapur gram panchayat member Gopal Shetty Kwadi said, “While traveling by road, I have seen this young student saluting the image of Anoop Poojary. It is remarkable to witness such patriotism at such a young age.”

It may be recalled, Lance Havildar Anoop Poojary, a resident of Keremane in Bijadi village, Kundapur taluk, was martyred in a tragic Army vehicle accident in Balnoi, Mendhar region of Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir, on December 24. The Army vehicle carrying soldiers skidded off a narrow road and plunged 150 feet into a gorge.

Anoop Poojary was inspired to join the Army during his school and college days through NCC. The 26/11 Mumbai attacks strengthened his resolve, and he joined the Army immediately after completing his second PUC. He served the nation for 13 years.

Three years ago, he was married, and in early December, he had visited his hometown to celebrate his daughter’s birthday and participate in the Kodi festival. He returned to duty on December 21, just days before the tragic accident that took his life.

This happens when head of the Nation and first citizen of the Nation are patriots and spend their time with soldiers and appreciate their efforts rather than roaming in foreign nations on the context of meditation. Children learn from their parents who teach their child to be patriots and love and support the nation they live in. Hats off to such patriotic parents and their teachers...
