Congress protests against BJP as MP budget session kicks off

Bhopal, Mar 10: The Madhya Pradesh Assembly witnessed high drama on the very first day of the budget session as Congress MLAs staged a protest against the ruling BJP, accusing the government of silence on key public issues.

Led by Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar, Congress legislators arrived at the Assembly premises with their faces covered in black cloth, holding placards and posters targeting the BJP government. Singhar alleged that those raising their voices against corruption and farmers’ issues were facing police harassment.

“The BJP does not want to discuss corruption and public welfare matters. When our MLAs sought answers, they were pressured to withdraw their questions,” Singhar claimed. He further alleged that the government was shielding influential politicians and bureaucrats involved in corruption, including those linked to the ex-RTO constable Saurabh Sharma case.

Meanwhile, Governor Mangubhai Patel addressed the House as the session commenced. The state government is set to present its first full budget on March 12, with key bills lined up for discussion. The session will conclude on March 24, with scheduled breaks in between.
