Vizianagaram, Mar 10: Vizianagaram Lok Sabha MP Kalisetti Appala Naidu has announced a unique initiative to encourage population growth, pledging Rs 50,000 as a fixed deposit for every third girl child born in his constituency.

The amount, he stated, would be deposited in the newborn’s name and could grow to Rs 10 lac by the time she reaches marriageable age. If the third child is a boy, the family will receive a cow and a calf instead.

“The Indian population has to rise. If the third child is a baby girl, we will deposit Rs 50,000 in her name. If it’s a boy, we will provide a cow and a calf,” Naidu said, adding that he was inspired by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s call to boost Andhra Pradesh’s population.
