Dear esteemed readers of Daijiworld,
As we complete one more fruitful year in our eventful journey in this information-driven world, we would like to take this opportunity to convey our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has helped and supported us in reaching this far and fulfiling our mission as a responsible media.
The year 2011 has been quite rewarding for Daijiworld on various accounts, specially in terms of expanding our readership base. This year we emerged as one of the premier web portals in the country, with a 50% increase in readership within India and 30% increase in total readership worldwide. In terms of commercials also, we have achieved a significant growth for the 2011 calender year. In addition, we have also spread our wings to Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh.
Facts and figures apart, we are happy that quite a good number of our exclusive and investigative reports have created social and economic impact in the society, which has helped us to bring some kind of a change in the system.
Anisa Fathima - Resident Editor
Daijiworld, which started on the auspicious occasion of Makara Sankranti on January 14, 2001, is now proud to announce its new Resident Editor, Anisa Fathima.
Young and dynamic journalist from Mangalore, Anisa, alumna of St Aloyisus College and top rank holder in MA English, has been part of Daijiworld since 2006. Apart from her experience in Daijiworld, she has done her internship in The Times of India, New Delhi edition.
She took up the mantle of responsibility as Resident Editor from May last year, but now we would like to make the announcement officially. She will be responsible for the content of the website including news, articles and editorial matters. She will be leading a group of over 60 journalists from around the twin districts of coastal Karnataka, other parts of India and abroad.
We, the management of Daijiworld Media Pvt Ltd, take this opportunity to welcome her.
Our concern towards social causes continued in 2011 as well, and with the help of generous support from readers worldwide, at least 22 families, individuals and institutions received great monetary assistance, which helped them to lead better lives. All credit goes to those who responded to the appeals published by Daijiworld, and reached out to them directly, without any third party mediation. With this kind of support, we assure you that we will continue our mission in the future also. This is one part of our work that gives us enormous satisfaction in our journey. Indeed, it is the ultimate reward for our sincere efforts and committment.
There has been a request from several of our readers/contributors to open a dedicated account (supervised by Daijiworld) to reach out to the needy, but due to various factors, including statutory obligations, at the moment we are not in a position to take such responsibilities. Let us continue in the same way, and meantime, we assure you that appeals brought forth through Daijiworld are purely on merit basis, published only after careful verification and recommendation from reliable sources.
During the just concluded year, many young writers found a platform to present their talent through Daijiworld columns. While we shall continue this trend in the future too, we invite more number of young and budding writers to make full use of this opportunity to exhibit their talent and create their own identity in the field of journalism.
In the year ahead, we hope to have a smooth ride as ever, do better, achieve higher goals and reach out to more people. We promise to come up with more aggressive and innovative ideas to keep our readers interested and informed.
Please guide us in our journey, we need your support and blessings. Kindly feel free to send your feedback, and correct us when we are wrong. It is you, the readers, who keep us on our toes with your constructive criticism, and boost our spirits with words of appreciation.
Once again, we take this opportunity to thank our readers, contributors, staff correspondents in India and abroad, support staff, honorary correspondents, freelancers, sponsors, advertisers, advertising agencies, associations worldwide, and all the authorities concerned, for their selfless efforts and support in taking Daijiworld to a greater height.
We are with you, always. That's a promise.
Sincerely,
Walter Nandalike
