Mangalore: Girl Mistakes Rat Poison for Toothpaste, Dies

Mangalore, Jan 13: Fatima Feeda (2), daughter of Abubakker from Iddya, Suratkal near here, breathed her last on Thursday January 12, after mistakenly applying rat poison which looked like toothpaste to her teeth.
The girl, who saw a white paste in a tube, had applied it to her teeth on Wednesday, thinking it to be toothpaste. Her mother, who saw this, immediately washed the mouth of the girl with water, and took her to a nearby doctor. It is learnt that the doctor advised the mother to bring her child to him only if she vomits.
At night, the girl developed complication, upon which the girl was taken to the doctor again. As per his advice, she was admitted into a hospital. By Thursday evening, poison spread all over her body, and Fatima lost her life. The doctors collected blood sample from the girl’s body and sent it for tests, before conducting post mortem.
A case was registered in Suratkal police station, and investigation has been taken up.
