Sharjah, Jan 8: EIFF organized its annual one day sports meet to mark 40th UAE National Day at Sharjah University Stadium here recently.

Chief guest Janab Abdul Waheed Sait, Bangalore has in his inaugural address said that sports meet will help in exposing the  talents, developing unity, integrity and sportsmanship among the people.

Janab Abdul Waheed Sait, Janab Nabavi, Janab Ashik Ameen and Janab Abdul Hameed were also present on the dais.

Janab Aashir Ibrahim who was overall in charge of the tournament read out the rules and regulations to be followed. President of EIFF Nasir Hussain conducted oath taking ceremony. Three groups competed in the tournament are Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.

There were sports events including Kabaddi, Volley Ball, Foot Ball, Tug of war, Shot Put, Frog Jump, 100 meters race and 4x100 meters relay.

Dubai bagged first place in Volley ball and 4x100 meters relay, Abu Dhabi bagged first place in Kabaddi and Tug of war and Sharjah team has first place in Foot Ball. Dubai bagged the over all championship with EIFF Rolling Trophy.

Final match was followed by closing ceremony and prize distribution, where in chief guests Janab Abdul Lathief and Janab Anwar.

The blood group check up and blood sugar check up counter was utilized by the majority of the participants. Emirates snacks sponsored the snacks to all the participants.

Janab Shameer Ahmed, Janab Ashraf Sheik and Janab Anwar have distributed the prizes to the winners of various events. The program concluded with vote of thanks by Janab Shameer Ahmed and dua by assistant coordinator Janab Ebrahim Agnadi.

More than 400 people have participated in the EIFF annual sports meet.
