Karkala, Jan 29: Thousands of faithful from across religions thronged to the St Lawrence Basilica Attur on the third day of its annual feast. Ten Eucharistic celebrations were held on the third day.
Fr Lenson Lobo, OFM cap, Brahmavar, Fr Alwyn D’Souza, family commission, Mangaluru, Fr Pius D'Souza, Shimoga, Fr (Dr) Anil Castelino, parish priest, Shankerpura, Fr Ronson Pinto, Assistant parish priest, Shirva, Fr Anil Joel Dsouza, parish priest Thokur, Fr Joachim Fernandes, parish priest, Kinnigoli parish, Fr Deep Fernades, OCD, Infant Jesus Shrine, Mangaluru, Fr Melwyn Noronha, parish priest, Alangar-Moodubidri celebrated the Eucharistic celebrations for the faithful.
The festival Eucharistic celebration was celebrated by Dr Lawrence Mukkuzhy, bishop of Beltangady. In his homily, he exhorted the people to remain steadfast in their hope amidst the upheavals of life. At the end of every mass a special prayer was prayed over the sick and the suffering. Different choirs and liturgy groups from nearby parishes assisted at the Eucharistic celebration.
KPCC campaign committee chairman Vinay Kumar Sorake, former minister Ramanath Rai and MLC Ivan D'Souza and local political leaders visited the shrine, met the rector and wished the pilgrims a blessed feast. Several groups of people from different parishes walked together to fulfil their vow to St Lawrence.
The annual feast of St Lawrence Minor Basilica, Attur is being celebrated for five days from January 26 to 30.
