Muniyal Ayurveda Institute conducts obesity checkup and treatment

Udupi, Jan 24: On the occasion of healthy weight awareness month, the department of Swasthavritta and Panchakarma of Muniyal Institute of Ayurveda Medical Sciences, Manipal is conducting a medical checkup and treatment for obesity disorder from January 24 to January 30 from 9 am to 4 pm at its premises.

Principal of the institute, Dr Sathyanarayana B, camp in-charge Dr Priti Patil and Yoga instructor Jyosthna K G CAO Yogeesh Shetty, associate professor Swasthavritta department Dr Ashitha R, assistant professor from Panchakarma department Dr Reeny Ravina Dias formally inaugurated the camp by lighting the lamp on January 24.

Obesity is commonly caused due to sedentary lifestyle, high calorie diet and lack of physical activities, the lesser-known causes include genetics, hormonal imbalance like PCOS, hypothyroidism and even stress. Ayurveda has many unique treatment modalities like Panchakarma, Pathyahara and Yoga to prevent as well as combat obesity.
