New Delhi, Jan 11: Union minister Amit Shah launched a strong attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its leader Arvind Kejriwal during a meeting with heads of slum clusters in Delhi on Saturday. This outreach event, held ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, marked a significant moment as Shah accused AAP of turning into a major disaster for the city over the past decade.
Referring to Prime Minister Modi's recent remark about the AAP's poor governance, Shah told the crowd that February 5—the election day—would be the day Delhians could free themselves from the “AAP’da,” a term he used to describe the disasters caused by the ruling party. “On February 5, you will have the chance to liberate Delhi from these ‘AAP’das,’” Shah declared, drawing loud cheers from the audience.
The Home Minister criticized AAP for deceiving Delhi residents with false promises over the past ten years, claiming the party’s governance was marred by corruption and mismanagement. He stated that the party, which rose to power on the back of the anti-corruption movement led by Anna Hazare, had failed to live up to its ideals and instead set new records in corruption.
In a sharp contrast, Shah emphasized the BJP's promises and their commitment to fulfilling them. He asserted that the BJP's manifesto was based on resolve and achievable goals, while AAP's promises were nothing but lies. “We promise what we do and we do what we promise,” he said.
Shah continued his scathing critique of the AAP government, describing Delhi's infrastructure as crumbling and its governance as a failure. “While the country is reaching new heights, Delhi is sinking deeper into chaos,” he remarked, adding that basic services like clean water, proper sanitation, and infrastructure were lacking under Kejriwal’s administration.
This public address by Amit Shah, the first since the announcement of election dates, has infused new energy into the BJP's election campaign. His visit to slum clusters through the Slum Dialogue Conference at JLM Stadium highlights the party’s innovative approach to connect with voters as the election season heats up.
