Kundapur: Thieves Strike Entrepreneur's House, Loot Cash, Gold Worth Rs 46 Lac

Kundapur, Dec 31: In a major theft reported on Thursday December 29 night, thieves targeted a house belonging to an entrepreneur in Kumbashi by the side of NH 66 here, and fled with cash and gold worth Rs 46 lac.
The house belongs to Devendra Sheregar, a Mumbai-based entrepreneur. Thieves broke open the main door and entered the house and stole gold jewellery worth Rs 43.50 lac and Rs 2.5 lac cash kept in the cupboard.
The stolen jewellery consists of an diamond-studded ornamental waist band worth Rs 20 lac, a pearl necklace worth Rs 5 lac, two gold necklaces worth Rs 10 lac, 10 bangles worth Rs 5 lac, a wrist band worth Rs 1 lac, two silver plates worth Rs 2 lac and other items used in offering puja, and two silver containers worth Rs 50,000.
Anitha Sheregar filed a complaint in the police station. Since Devendra lives in Mumbai, the house was maintained by the workers. The workers were given a outhouse near the house. The thieves gained entry after the workers retired for the night.
Kundapur CI Madan Gaonkar and Kundapur PSI Johnson D’Souza visited the spot and conducted spot inspection. Investigations are on. Fingerprint experts, dog squad were also pressed into service.
