Kundapur, Dec 23: A tyre repair shop located next to the gate of the Karnataka Public School, under Koteshwara gram panchayat limits, continues to operate despite repeated appeals for relocation due to safety concerns.

On Saturday morning, a tyre burst occurred in a dangerous manner. Fortunately, as the school session had already begun, a potential tragedy was averted.

Thousands of students from the school’s primary, high school, and PU college sections pass by the shop daily. Social worker Lokesh Ankadakatte raised concerns, warning that tyre bursts near the school could prove fatal if they occur while students are nearby. Despite repeated requests to shift the shop, it continues to operate in the same location.

Screen grabs from CCTV footage

The recent tyre burst was caught on the CCTV camera of a nearby shop owned by Sirajuddin, and the video has since gone viral on social media. Residents are urging the concerned authorities and officials to take immediate action and relocate the shop to ensure the safety of the students.

This video went viral on WhatsApp and even reached me in the USA. Besides my concern for the student’s safety, my question is about poor Sirajuddin. I saw the explosion throw him into the air. What happened to him? Is he safe or injured?
