Kundapur, Dec 21: In a burglary incident that took place on the night of December 20, burglars broke into a house in the outskirts of Kundapur city when no one was at home and stole jewellery, diamonds, and silk sarees worth nearly Rs 20 lac.

The house belonged to Shivaram Shetty and his wife Mamatha, who live in the area. Their children are employed in Bengaluru, and the couple had locked the house and gone to Bengaluru.

The incident was discovered the next morning when a relative arrived to water the plants and noticed that the house door was ajar. Suspicious, the relative called the homeowners, who informed their relatives, and a police complaint was filed after an inspection.

Upon reaching the spot, the police, along with a dog squad and fingerprint experts, conducted an investigation. The burglars had stolen gold and diamond jewelry, as well as valuable silk sarees. However, they did not touch any silver items.

This incident adds to the growing number of burglaries in Kundapur over the past few months, leaving residents in fear.

The police have registered a case at the Kundapur police station and are taking further action.
