Kundapur: Illegal tree transport foiled – Forest officials seize goods worth Rs 40 lac; accused flee

Kundapur, Dec 6: Officials from the Shankaranarayana forest department confiscated wooden logs made from trees illegally felled on government land in Agrabail on December 2.

The seized items include wooden logs of teak and mango trees, a truck, a crane, and two motorbikes, with the total value estimated at Rs 40 lac. The accused managed to escape from the site during the raid.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of DFO Ganapati and ACF Prakash Poojary, led by Shankaranarayana zonal forest officer Jyoti, along with DRFO K C Mathew and personnel Zahir Abbas, Prashant, Krishnamurthy Hebbar, Ravi Adiga, Shekhar Kulal, and Bhaskar Kottary.

A case regarding the incident has been registered at the Shankaranarayana zone forest office.
