Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (TP)

Udupi, Dec 5: The Udupi city police handed over Rs 10,620, found with a deceased individual, to the deceased’s family.

Assistant sub-inspector Subhash Kamath and head constable Malinga summoned the family to the station and returned the amount, which had been recovered from the deceased’s possession.

A few days ago, an unidentified man was discovered in a collapsed and helpless state at the Udupi city bus stop. Social workers Nityanand Volakadu and Taranath Mesta Shiroor took the man to the district hospital, where doctors confirmed his death.

In their efforts to identify the deceased, the social workers searched his pockets and found an address slip along with Rs 10,620 in cash, which they promptly handed over to the police. The deceased was later identified as Somnath from Karwar.

Social worker Nityanand Volakadu was present during the handover.

OK.Police gave back that money to family.More than that one should appreciate social worker who took the fellow to hospital and he found the money and without keeping to himself gave it Police without pocketing. Now Police have given back because social worker would ask later ?Or say there are too honest ones in Police Dpt?

Why showbazi to return the money that was in the possession of the deceased person? Who wants to keep such money belonging to a dead person? The cops publicised this issue as if they were giving an award to the deceased family. If there is someone who has to be appreciated in this case is the social-worker, not the police.

giving 10000 back and looting in lakhs is the mantra of khaki...one of the highly corrupt of govt depts..of course much lower than pwd, revenue etc..probably because nitya anna was involved it was given back....otherwise PCs are known to even steal beedies from the pocket of dead bodies

Amount was too small, so this courtesy. Had the amount been a lakh ormore, the inspector and constables would have pocketed and distributed it.
