Mangaluru, Nov 30: The newly established nursing college under Milagres Educational Institutions and the cultural fest, "Avishkar 2024," were inaugurated on Saturday, November 30, on the college premises.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest, professor U T Iftikhar Fareed, national commission chairman, allied and healthcare council Karnataka, and syndicate member of RGUHS, commended the efforts of Milagres Educational Institutions. He remarked, "Nursing is a noble profession and one of the most sought-after fields in the job market. It is not just a profession; it is a service to society that provides care to patients and brings about a significant transformation in their lives and the lives of their families."












The event was presided over by bishop of Mangaluru diocese Dr Peter Paul Saldanha. In his presidential address and prayer, he conveyed his best wishes for the institution. He emphasized that nursing is a highly respected profession, offering care with compassion and restoring health to the suffering. "With a deep sense of social responsibility, Milagres Educational Institutions has initiated this nursing college," he added.
The program was attended by dignitaries, including Fr Richard Coelho, Fr Faustine L Lobo, Ajit Lobo, Alexander Maxim Monteiro, Sr Dr Jeevitha MD, Dr Sujay, CA Nithin J Shetty, Sylvester Mascarenhas, Jacinta Fernandes, Sangeeta Fernandes, Dr Veena G Tauro, and Dr Diana Lobo, along with members of the governing body.
The cultural fest featured diverse activities, such as a traditional dress display by Milagres College students, a baby show, games like housie housie, a Christmas star competition, and contests highlighting traditional Indian attire. Attractive prizes were awarded to the winners of these competitions. Students also showcased vibrant cultural performances, adding to the festivities.
The program began with a warm welcome by Fr Bonaventure Nazareth, director of Milagres Institutions. Fr Dr Michael Santhumayor, principal of Milagres College, delivered the vote of thanks, while lecturer Shravya N hosted the event.
