Moodbidri: Corpus Christi Church celebrates patron's feast

Media Release

Moodbidri, Nov 28: Corpus Christi Church celebrated the feast of Corpus Christi, honouring the most Holy Body and Blood of Jesus, with a solemn and vibrant Eucharistic celebration. The occasion was marked by community participation, spiritual enrichment, and acts of gratitude.

The event commenced with church secretary Norbert Martis reading out the names of parishioners who generously contributed in cash towards the church annual feast. As a token of appreciation, Fr Onil D’Souza, the church vicar, distributed blessed candles to the contributors.

The Holy Eucharistic Mass began with the Corpus Christi Church children’s band escorting the clergy to the church entrance.

Msgr Maxim Noronha, vicar general of Mangalore celebrated the Holy Mass joined by twenty-one co-celebrants. The Corpus Christi Church choir enriched the liturgy with their melodious harmonies.

Msgr Fr Maxim Noronha delivered a profound sermon, emphasizing the faithful as the true temple of God. In his homily, he described the church not merely as a structure for worship but as a congregation of believers seeking God’s grace. Quoting Jesus’ reference to His body as a temple, Fr Maxim highlighted that God resides not in buildings of stone but in the hearts of the faithful. He urged the community to live as a temple of God by fostering unity, performing good deeds, and embracing the synodal spirit of journeying together as a community without discrimination. Such a life, he said, would attract grace and miracles.

At the conclusion of the service, Fr Onil D’Souza expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the smooth functioning of the church and its administration. Special felicitation was accorded to Denis Pereira and Praveen D’Souza of fortune promotors for their contributions to renovating the adoration chapel.

Adding to the festivities, the YCS and ICYM organized a stall to entertain parishioners. The event concluded on a high note, reinforcing the church’s mission of unity, service, and faith.
