Bantwal, Dec 6: "Both chief minister D V Sadanand Gowda and BJP state president Eshwarappa expressed confidence that BJP candidate would win the recently held bypoll in Bellary, but I expected the outcome that is now known to the world," said former CM B S Yeddyurappa while speaking to media persons at Kalladka, here on Tuesday December 6.
Yeddyurappa was in the district to partake in the 28-day Vajapeya Somayaga, a religious celebration that is under way at Nanda Gokula Cow Shelter, near Kalladka.
"We had allowed Sriramulu to contest from Bellary in the last elections, which gave him control over majority of party workers. BJP does not have strong presence at the moment," said Yeddyurappa. He further said that plans will be chalked out to strengthen the party in the grassroot level in Bellary.
"The outcome of Bellary bypoll has no impact on state administration. Sriramulu is free to form his own party, which would not hinder BJP," he said.
"I have come to attend Yaga that is being performed for universal brotherhood. It has given me peace and boosted my self-confidence."
"Due to my illness, I have been advised by doctors not to strain by talking. I will continue to be a party activist for the time being and I will only talk if need be," he said.
