Karkala: Eicher lorry, bike accident – 4 dead including 3 children, one seriously injured

Karkala, Sep 29: In a tragic accident between an Eicher vehicle and a bike, four people lost their lives, and one sustained serious injuries at Pajigudde in Karkala.

The deceased include three children and a man who were riding on the bike. Three died on the spot while another child breathed its last while being shifted to a hospital. The seriously injured woman has been admitted to the hospital.

The deceased are identified as Suresh Acharya (35), his children Sumiksha (7), Sushmitha (5), Sushanth (2).

Meenakshi (32) wife of Suresh Acharya is admitted in a hospital at Karkala.

It is reported that five people were traveling on the bike.

The accident occurred when the bike, in an attempt to overtake a car, collided with an oncoming Eicher lorry.

    This is a accident spot with history of fatal accidents and considered to be a haunted area in earlier days. Many lives have been lost during ast years and it is sad that people don't take it serious while driving and riding the two wheelers.

    Indian riders need prior training before they own it. Licencing authority should be filled with experienced riders instead of super belly babus.

    Sad it happened. Police do not stop such riding practices. Saw a couple & two children travelling Charmadi. Police did not stop them.

    Very sorry for the lost lives. May Almighty God give them and their family members enough strength and courage to overcome their pain.. But as a matter of fact, Bike is meant for 2 people only as per law. Max you can carry 3 if the child is small.. But here 5 people on the bike clearly states the carelessness of the Father/Bike owner.. He risked 5 lives...!!
