Kasargod, Sep 26: Kumble police have arrested a man in connection with the suicide of his three-month pregnant wife.

Janardhana (39), a resident of Shantiodu in Kayyur Kannatipare, has been taken into custody.

His wife, Vijetha (32), originally from Pilikula, Vamanjoor, Mangaluru, was found dead, hanging from a ceiling fan inside their home on August 18. During the investigation, police recovered a suicide note written by Vijetha. The investigation revealed that she had taken the extreme step due to physical and mental harassment.

The police determined that Janardhana's harassment led to Vijetha’s death. He was arrested after being summoned to the Kumble police station.

The accused was produced before the Kasargod court and has been remanded to judicial custody.

The couple had been married for just over a year and a half.
