Germany, Sep 17: Konkani Kutam e.V. Germany celebrated Monthi Fest on September 14 at St Christophorus Church Frankfurt.
Members and friends from across Germany and neighbouring countries such as Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland gathered to celebrate the occasion together and to pay homage to Mother Mary.
They began the day with veneration and adorning Mother Mary with flowers. The veneration was accompanied by soulful hymns performed by a big choir, led by Jeevitha Lora and prayers led by the sisters of the Bethany congregation. We proceeded with the Eucharistic celebration led by Fr Melwyn Rosario and Fr Jason Anthony. The sisters of the Bethany congregation helped immensely with the beautiful decorations in the church.
After the Mass, they proceeded to the church hall where they commenced the cultural celebrations. The programme included an assortment of homemade dishes prepared by the members of Konkani Kutam themselves.
Core team secretary-Milind Lobo and vice president-Curran D’Souza office bearers of Konkani Kutam welcomed the gathering.
The hosts Jane Mascarenhas, Waylon Machado and Roel Dsouza, kept up the spirits of the gathering, and led the event seamlessly.
The logo of the community was recently redesigned through a competition held the days leading up to the event. The new logo, designed by Karen Dantis, was revealed at the event by president Keeth Noronha and vice-president Curran D’Souza.
The cultural segment featured the highly anticipated auction of organic vegetables and plants generously sponsored by members. The auction featured a pumpkin that weighed just over 30 kilos.
The event also included games, solo song performances, a comedy skit, and traditional Baila songs and dances with the talented DJ Jaison D’Souza. President Keeth Noronha expressed his sincere gratitude to the volunteers for their noteworthy help and support in making the event a great success.
This event was live streamed on YouTube, for those who could not be there in person.
