Udupi, Aug 28: In a continued effort to support local law enforcement and enhance public safety, the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) has donated 3 high-tech computer systems to the Udupi town police station. This donation underscores MAHE's commitment to leveraging its resources for the betterment of the local community and strengthening the capabilities of law enforcement in tackling modern challenges.
Dr H S Ballal, pro chancellor of MAHE Manipal, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, "We are dedicated to supporting our local law enforcement in every way possible. By providing these advanced computer systems, we hope to enhance the Udupi Town police station's ability to handle their responsibilities more effectively, particularly in the areas of data management and cyber-related tasks. This is a small but significant step towards ensuring a safer community."
Dr Narayana Sabhahit, pro vice chancellor - Technology & Science, remarked, "Technology plays a pivotal role in modern policing. With an advanced lab in cybersecurity at MIT Manipal, MAHE is well-equipped to offer training to police personnel in the latest cybersecurity techniques. Along with the donation of these systems, we are ready to support the Udupi Town police station by providing specialized training that will further empower them to tackle the challenges of the digital age."
Dr Raviraja N S, chief operating officer - Operations, highlighted the importance of security on the Manipal campus, noting, "With close to 28,000 students from different parts of the world, ensuring the safety and security of our campus is paramount. We are continually working to increase security measures, and we deeply appreciate the hard work and dedication of the police personnel who help make this possible. Their commitment to maintaining safety is invaluable to our community, and this donation is a gesture of our support and gratitude."
Receiving the donation, Punith Kumar, sub inspector of Udupi town police station, expressed his gratitude, stating, "We are thankful to MAHE for this generous contribution. These computer systems will greatly aid our efforts in managing investigations and improving our efficiency in handling cases. The support from MAHE is invaluable in helping us better serve the community."
The 3 computer systems, equipped with up-to-date software, were handed over in a formal ceremony held at the MAHE Building in Manipal. Present at the event were key other officials from MAHE, Dr Vinod C Nayak, secretary, Sports Council, Col Vijay Bhaskar Reddy, chief security officer, Sandeep Bansal, director, Information & Technology, Sathish Kamath, deputy director, Information & Technology, and Sachin Karanth, deputy director, PR and Communications. Along with other officials from the Udupi town police station, also participated in the event.
