Panaji, Nov 15: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) said that the pre-alliance talks with Congress for Goa seats are likely to continue till mid-December as the party wants satisfactory share of
tickets for them in the forthcoming poll.

NCP’s Goa Observer Bharati Chawan said that the third round of talks of co-alliance committee will be held in next couple of days in Goa.

“We already had two rounds and things are moving steadily. The rounds are likely to continue till mid-December,” she said.

Chawan said that there would be at least three more rounds of talk before both the coalition partners come down to a consensus.

NCP which was given 6 seats during 2007 elections have now demanded 12 seats from the 40 constituencies.

“We want our original 6 seats and in addition we will be asking for 6 seats on which discussions are currently going on,” she said.

Congress party is represented by All India congress Committee Observer Jagmit Singh Brar and secretary Sudhakar Reddy in the co-alliance talks.

Chawan said that the situation has changed in Goa and now the NCP is a strong position even to fight on its own.

“We will not settle till we get our satisfactory share of tickets,” she added.

NCP is currently in coalition with Congress in Goa. Sharad Pawar-led party has three legislators in the house while Congress has 20.
