Udupi, Jul 29: The concrete road connecting the internationally acclaimed Blue Flag beach at Padubidri End Point collapsed on Sunday due to sea erosion. This road was the only access from the beach to the main road in Padubidri.
Minister Mankala Vaidya visited Nadipatna on Saturday and observed that the sand beneath the road had been washed away into the sea. He instructed contractors to carry out emergency repairs in the presence of MLA Suresh Shetty.
Tourists are prohibited from entering Padubidri Blue Flag beach until July 31. Barricades have been installed at Nadipatna Sri Vishnu Bajana Mandir to prevent access to the beach, according to Vijay Shetty, the beach manager.
Kaup MLA Suresh Shetty stated, “The concrete road leading to Blue Flag beach is completely damaged. During the assembly session, I raised this issue with tourism minister H K Patil, who assured me that a grant would be released for repairs. I will meet him personally to discuss the current situation.”
