Bantwal, Jul 25: Heavy rain and wind have caused significant damage in various areas of the taluk since Wednesday night. In Mani, Neralakatte, Ananthadi, and Kadeshwalya, strong winds uprooted trees, causing damage to several electric poles. The water level in the Netravati River has also risen to 7.5 meters.
In Neralakatte and Mittur of the taluk, large trees were uprooted, and clearing operations were conducted on Thursday, July 25 morning. Several electric poles were also damaged, causing widespread disruption to the power supply, and MESCOM workers had to undertake extensive repair work.
In Neralakatte village of Netlamudnur, a large tree fell on the house of Ismail Madani, causing significant damage. Despite the family being inside at the time of the incident, there were no casualties. In Kadeshivalaya village, the plantations of Vineeth B Rai and N Veerappa Naik suffered damage, with around 600 fruit-bearing areca nut and coconut trees being uprooted.
In Dandeppadi village of Mani, a coconut tree fell on the house and cowshed of Rama Moolya, causing partial damage. In Mittur village of Idkidu, a coconut tree fell on the house of Janaki, causing damage, although the house was unoccupied at the time.
In Berike village of Punacha, the cowshed of Narayana Naik’s house was damaged. In Idkidu village, a tree fell on the house of Abdul Rahiman, causing damage, and the family has been shifted to their son's house.
In Modankapu village of B Mooda, the wall of the residence of Dinesh Bin K Nemu collapsed. The revenue department has reported that there were no casualties.
