Mumbai, Jul 24: The Akhila Bharata Tulu Okkoota (Regd) Mangaluru commenced its membership drive in Mumbai on July 23, aiming to expand its reach and influence among the Tulu community in the city.
The launch event was attended by notable figures including senior organizers Ravindranath M Bhandary, Prakash T Shetty Nallya Guthu, secretary Mulki Karunakar Shetty, treasurer Chandrahas Devadiga Bedra, joint secretary P A Poojary, organizational secretary Kadri Navaneeth Shetty, and Taranath Shetty Bolar.
In a bid to strengthen the Tulu community's presence in Mumbai, a meeting with key leaders of Tulu organizations is scheduled for Thursday, July 25, at 3:00 PM. The meeting will take place at the Banter Bhavan Annex Building Hall in Kurla East, under the presidency of A C Bhandary.
Established in 1989 in Mangaluru, the Akhila Bharata Tulu Okkoota has organized numerous significant Tulu conferences over the past 35 years, including international events in Dubai. The association currently boasts 45 member organizations from India and abroad. By registering more Tulu organizations as member institutions, the Okkoota aims to preserve and promote the Tulu language and culture, providing inspiration and guidance to these groups.
The organization has been nurtured under the leadership of prominent personalities such as the late S R Hegde, the late Adyar Mahabala Shetty, Ln Diwakar Shetty Sangli, and Dharmapala U Devadiga. With a determined goal to reach 100 member organizations, the Okkoota is set to expand further.
Experienced organizers Karnur Mohan Rai and Ashok Pakkala will spearhead the Mumbai membership campaign, ensuring its success and growth.
