Kundapur, Jul 18: Dr Umesh Puthran, president of the Kundapur Taluk Kannada Sahitya Parishad, announced, “The Kundapur Taluk Kannada Sahitya Sammelana will be held at the campus of Bidkalkatte Karnataka Public School, high school section, under the aegis of the Udupi District Kannada Sahitya Parishad, Kundapur Taluk unit, on August 31 and September 1.”
Puthran, speaking at the Press Club, further explained, “Cultural programs will be held on the evening of August 31. On the morning of September 1, there will be a procession of the president of the Sammelana, the inauguration of the Sammelana, various seminars, felicitations to achievers, and cultural programs. This is the third Sammelana being held during our tenure. The Taluk Sammelana at Bidkalkatte is receiving a good response.”
Surendra Adiga, district president of the Kannada Sahitya Parishad, stated, “Prof Molahalli Balakrishna Shetty, principal of Sri Ramakrishna College of Mangaluru, has been elected as the president of the Kundapur Taluk Kannada Sahitya Sammelana in the executive committee meeting of the unit.
“Prof Molahalli retired in 2019 after serving as principal of Kateel Sri Durgaparameshwari First Grade College. He has contributed immensely to the Kannada language. It has been decided to felicitate government schools that have secured 100% results in the Kannada medium. Last year, the Vaidya Sahitya Sammelana was held successfully under the leadership of the Kundapur unit. Since last year, we have not received grants for the Taluk Sahitya Sammelana from the government, only for the district Sammelana. Accumulating resources for the Taluk Sammelana has become difficult. Last year, four Taluk Sammelanas were held in the district.”
M Mahesh Hegde, president of the welcome committee for the Taluk Sahitya Sammelana, added, “We have already held two meetings to successfully conduct the Kundapur Taluk Kannada Sahitya Sammelana. The public has given us a good response. All preparations are being made to ensure the Sammelana is successful at Bidkalkatte.”
President of the financial committee Arun Kumar Hegde, chief secretary of the Kannada Sahitya Parishad district unit Subramanya Shetty, and Taluk unit secretary Dinakar R Shetty were present.
