I Liked Manmohan When He Wasn't PM: Advani

Panaji, Nov 2 (IANS): Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L.K. Advani Wednesday said he liked Manmohan Singh "when he was not the prime minister".

Speaking to reporters in Panaji, the former deputy prime minister, who is on a nationwide anti-graft Jan Chetna Yatra, also said calling Singh a weak PM was not a "harsh critique".

"When he was not a prime minister I liked him. He served very efficiently as P.V. Narasimha Rao's finance minister, but we did not expect courage from him then," Advani said sarcastically.

"Calling him a weak PM is not harsh," Advani said adding the country had now realised in retrospect that the BJP's constant castigation of Singh's governance in the past had substance.

"People earlier used to say 'he is an honest man, why do you keep attacking him'. Now they tell me, what the BJP was saying all this while is right," he said.

The BJP leader also said the record of both Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi in the battle against corruption was "highly unsatisfactory".

Advani also critiqued the Congress' efforts to put the blame for the 2G spectrum scam on United Progressive Alliance (UPA) partner DMK, whose former minister A. Raja is in prison on corruption charges.

"I have always stated that the massive 2G spectrum scam was not an ally affair alone. It has deeper roots in the higher level of government, including involvement of the ministers of the Congress in the union government and their role needs to be investigated," Advani said.

One cannot compare Cheese and Chalk. Dr, MMS is a thorough gentleman, well read and beyond a doubt has INDIA's interest uppermost, unlike Advani who has Politics in his blood and to achieve his agenda can set the country on fire igniting communal hatred, he has done it once and will stoop to any level, he is a volatile combination of a Sindhi with Pakistani blood and influence.

Dear Advaniji, you spoke the truth atleast once this time. I am sure you wont like Manmohan Singh because you could not become the PM and he did. Secondly because you cant match him in sincerity and hard work and intelligence. Thirdly because he is a man of few words and lots of work and you are vice versa. The list will go on but what is important is, that you dont like Manmohan who is the PM and we perfectly understand your frustration...

Advaniji i don’t like you now and in future if you become PM also. You give a very negative vibe whenever i see you. even when Atalji was PM, your presence was giving such a bad feeling, no doubt people didn’t liked you has PM candidate last election, in future its only because of congress bad deeds you may become to PM and not because of you.
