Udupi: Vibrant Hues of Karnataka Come Alive at Rajyotsava Celebrations

Udupi, Nov 1: The district celebrated Kannada Rajyotsava at municipal grounds, Ajjarkad, here on Tuesday November 1 morning with pomp and splendour.
State higher education minister and district-in-charge Dr V S Acharya after hoisting the flag and accepting the guard of honour said that all the vital roads across the district under the public works department will be repaired by end of December.
The construction of the district headquarters complex that is in progress at Manipal will be completed by the end of December and will be inaugurated by chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda. The blueprint has been prepared to develop infrastructure facilities in five constituencies of the district, and the CM has announced a special package of Rs 50 crore for this purpose, Acharya said.
He also urged the elders to instil love for Karnataka among children. The state departments were urged to take positive steps towards implementing Kannada as the administrative language. "Rajyotsava celebrations should not be limited to a day, instead, Kannadigas should maintain the same spirit throughout the year," he added.
The district Rajyotsava Awards were presented to nine distinguished personalities and an organization, in recognition of their extraordinary contributions to their respective fields. Among them was Daijiworld photojournalist Hemanath Padubidri.
Earliar, deputy commissioner Dr Reju flagged off a colourful procession comprising tableau from Board School, accompanied by school students. The students staged a variety of cultural dances at the venue.
Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon, Udupi MLA Raghupati Bhat, ZP president Shankar Poojary, town councillor Kiran Kumar, deputy councillor Bharati Chandrashekar, ASP Venkateshappa, assistant deputy commissioner Kumar, RTO H N Ramesh, ZP chief executive officer Prabhakar Sharma, municipal commissioner Gokuldas Nayak and others were present at the occasion.
