Kundapur, Jul 15: A petition regarding matters related to the Konkan Railway and Kundapur railway service was submitted to Kundapur MLA Kiran Kumar Kodgi.

In the meeting held in this context, it was decided that the Konkan Railway Corporation should be merged with Indian Railways by transferring Karnataka’s share of Rs 270 crores to the central government, or if Karnataka retains its share in the Konkan Corporation, the state should immediately provide Rs 2000 crores needed for track doubling to resolve the railway issues of the coastal people. The MLA was urged to raise this matter in the legislative assembly.

A demand was made for a new Padil bypass train between Kundapur and Bengaluru. It was also decided to undertake necessary works related to upgrading the Kundapur railway station under the leadership of the MLA and to hold a meeting with the MPs regarding this matter. Instructions were given to the local administration to clear the overgrown grass on the pedestrian pathways of the Kundapur railway station access road.
