Media Release

Udupi, Jul 15: Acting on the special efforts of Jayaprakash Hegde, the state government has directed the re-opening of the agriculture diploma course at Keladi Shivappa Nayaka University of Agricultural and Horticultural Science, Brahmavar, Udupi, effective from July 15.

The decision was reached during a joint meeting of the 7th Expert Committee and the 33rd Coordinating Committee, where it was agreed to resume the two-year diploma in agriculture course.

The initiative will utilize existing infrastructure and teaching staff at the university, and administrative approval has been granted without the need for additional grant proposals.

The course is scheduled to commence from the academic year 2024-25. State Agriculture Minister Cheluvarayaswamy, responding to public demand, played a key role in advocating for this decision following his visit to the Agriculture Mela at Cherkadi near Brahmavar.

Jayaprakash Hegde expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Agriculture Minister Cheluvarayaswamy for their support in sanctioning the re-opening of the Agriculture Diploma Course. He acknowledged the appreciation from students, farmers, and the public for his efforts in this regard.
