Mangaluru, Jul 14: Foundation stone laying ceremony for the centenary building, uniform distribution, and Vanamahotsava event were held at the Model Kannada and English Medium School, Thiruvail, Vamanjoor, on the outskirts of the city.
The event was graced by Dr Y Bharath Shetty, MLA of Mangaluru North, and Sudheer Shetty Kannur, mayor of Mangaluru City Corporation, along with other dignitaries including Thiruvail Ward corporator Hemalatha Raghu Salian. The dignitaries inaugurated the ceremony by lighting the lamp. During the event, uniforms were symbolically distributed to the school students.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Dr Y Bharath Shetty highlighted the efforts of local corporator and alumnus of the same school, Hemalatha Raghu Salian, and Raghu Salian, who have been tirelessly working for the survival and development of the school. He noted that Hemalatha Raghu Salian is the most proactive among all the corporators in advocating for the development of government schools. He praised her for personally funding the uniforms for the students, aiming to make this school competitive with private institutions. The relentless efforts of the school's alumni for its betterment were also commended.
The event was attended by the Centenary Committee president Prathosh Malli, general secretary Om Prakash Shetty, treasurer Mohan Das Bangera, Raj Kumar Shetty, SDMC vice president Reshma, Education Department CRP Pushpavathi, headmistress Janet Pinto, Alumni Association president Girish Acharya, engineer Purushotham, honorary president Jagadeesh Shenava, and others.
