Mangalore: Tipper Rams into Auto Rickshaw - One Dead, Four Others Injured

Mangalore, Oct 31: One of the five injured in an accident on Gurpur bridge near here on Monday October 31 passed away hours after the mishap.

The deceased is Babu Shetty (47), resident of Gadigudde, Pavoor who was admitted in SCS hospital in the city.

The accident occured when a tipper rammed into an auto rickshaw. Yathiraj (30), the driver of the rickshaw is also among the injured.

The other three passengers Devadas Poojary, Deepak Shetty and Jyotiprakash in his rickshaw were also injured. Among them, Jyotiprakash is said to be critical. Babu Shetty too was in the auto.

While Babu Shetty was admitted to SCS, the others are in AJ Hospital. According to AJ hospital sources, two of the injured are recuperating.

The tipper was plying from Vamanjoor to Gurpur. The passengers in the auto were returning from a marriage function.

Yathiraj, who is from Bantwal, also works part time at Ganesh Medicals in the city. He is married.

Bajpe police arrived at the spot.
